Getting Comps in Casinos

Whatever differences casinos may have, one thing they all share in common is that they provide comps for all players. However, not enough people take advantage of this, thinking they don't amount to much, or they are difficult to attain. Nothing is further from the truth.

The steps for acquiring the casino comps are very easy. Upon entering the venue, you head over to the booth or desk usually marked "players' club" or something similar. There you are given a form, which you need to fill up. Afterwards you are handed a small card, indicating that you are now part of the club and entitled to comps. While you are there, you can ask for another copy, in the event that you lose the first one.

So how does this player card help you earn casino comp points? Simple; when you go and play in the slots or Video Poker, insert the card in the machine, and the length of time you play will be recorded (the more time you spend playing, the more quickly your points will accumulate). If you are going to play in a table game like Poker, show the card to the croupier or dealer, and it will be duly noted.

Usually the card (or the information sheet that you signed up) will indicate how many points you need to get before you receive a particular casino comp. Once you get the required number of points, you should head to the booth where you signed up and get your freebies, be it concert tickets, dinner, drinks or whatever.

In case you're wondering, it is unlikely that the casino dealer or attendant is going to inform you that you are eligible for this or that (although some may). The reason is, number one, they wouldn't want to disturb you as you play; number two is such an action may appear insulting, suggesting you are not aware of your comp totals, and number three, you might be working to get more points.

The more points you earn, the bigger the rewards, which may include free airline tickets, hotel rooms, buy ins at tournaments, etc. Don't hesitate to ask the attendant or employee for information.

Casino comps are free; you literally get something out of nothing. It shouldn't get any better than that, but it definitely will, because as competition among gambling establishments tighten, expect more freebies and bonuses to emerge.
